Sippakorn Khiaosanthia also known as Baphoboy (born 1995) is an artist from Bangkok. He finished his studies at Silpakorn University Bangkok and graduated with a Bachelor of Art degree (Graphic Arts). He recently took the web by storm with his poignant satirical and enigmatic smiley figures. It was an immediate success, and since then his rapid ascension brought him to be selected for Pictoplasma Berlin 2021, the most important international conference and festival about contemporary character design.

His curent work, mostly digital paintings, tell a lot about present-day Thailand.

Baphoboy`s  work portrays his daily struggle and stress in dealing with news and politics. The COVID Pandemic is also on display in his work as its impact has sharpened and shaped his views in many ways.

The paintings come with characters in beautiful coloring setting, but their smiles seem frozen and the scene is often violent and sexually charged.

His pictures are strong and speak for themselves, even if they are sometimes full of hidden messages and symbols. For people who love Thailand and are interested in the history of the country these are not difficult to decipher.

His aim is to reach a broad public and encourage people not to be afraid and to stand up for basic human rights, equality and fairness.

Exhibiting for the very first time in the northern capital, a selection of 15 works will be displayed as high quality prints on paper and canvas, limited editions signed and dated by the artist.

His exhibition „Hope Land“ will be shown in Suvannabhumi Head High Gallery in Chiang Mai from 03.10.2021 to 04.12.2021. Opening Reception on October 2nd from 6 pm. The artist will be present.
